FORMER councillor and enterprise proprietor, David Simms, has died of septicaemia aged 73.
Born in Freshwater Bay, Mr Simms attended Newport CE College and Carisbrooke Grammar College.
He obtained a level at Portsmouth Polytechnic, and labored at British Hovercraft, Westland Aerospace and Chemring earlier than operating his personal accounting enterprise — South Island Accountancy.
He served on Newport Borough Council for the Carisbrooke Ward, earlier than transferring to Godshill after marrying his spouse of 43 years, Jackie.
Mr Simms then served as a parish councillor at Godshill.
Throughout his youthful years he performed tennis, rugby and squash. He loved watching tennis and rugby in his later years and went to observe London Irish play.
Mr Simms leaves behind his spouse Jackie, step daughter Lucy, grandchildren Hollie, Dale, Likelihood and Luckie, nice granddaughters Harlow, Delilah and Vienna, sister Anne, nephews Patrick and Matthew, and his nice nieces Olivia and Emily.
